Dweezil is, for me, all things ZAPPA. I cannot, in good conscience, visit/purchase, from any other "official" Zappa website. It just makes me ill. I'd rather buy from some person on Ebay, items that I can't get from Dweezils website. My heart and my wallet will remain with Dweezil. I'm good with that.
Saw the film. Truthfully, if you already know about Frank's musicianship and his life, the film doesn't add anything new, really. If you are new to FZ, then the documentaries on " Classic Albums: Apostrophe ( ' ) & Overnight Sensation " as well as " Baby Snakes " and ( I would even add ) " Summer: 82 When Zappa Came To Sicily " are better/stronger choices. Otherwise, the VERY best place to learn about Frank: The MUSIC.
I watched the ZFT movie through improper channels. The depiction of Frank as cold was offensive to me. The closest I have seen to another composer/performer making an emotional connection with the audience is dweezil. His music was a gift to us. We could see ten shows during a tour and each one was unique and developed as an interaction with him, the performers and the audience. His perfectionism was a sign of respect for an audience that would have accepted whatever he dished out. Interviews with musicians, excluding Ruth, who had to go above and beyond the necessary did not do him justice. Frank only demanded of his musicians what they should have demanded of themselves. Thanks for keeping the music and love for the listener alive.
There is nothing that really compares to to joy I get from listening to the instrumental albums Frank and now Dweezil have released. The music speaks to me on another level and I am grateful for its existence. I find it shocking that another human could even play in the FZ style with so much attention to detail. Thank you Dweezil for all your years of hard work you are an amazing musician. Just know I literally break out in laughter listening to you on a tear. You add a whole new sonic imprint to the style and I feel proud like a father. Earth is better with you here, thank you forever. Dennis.
Hi Dennis,
That's quite a compliment. I appreciate your kind words. In the coming months I plan to be able to begin making more new music of my own and I'll be starting collaborations with new musicians as well. I am also planning to do live broadcasts during recording sessions, right here on my site.
