Close-up of headstock of my ‘77 Frankenstein replica

I used a earliest period correct Charvel logo on this guitar instead of the Gibson logo that Ed used...just my little quirk, even though the first guitar to ever have a Charvel logo on the headstock was the yellow and black guitar from the cover of Van Halen II.

I used TWO metal spacers under the string tree because I wanted to have a string tree in keeping with the look of Ed’s original, but I have set up the guitar so that the strings do not touch the string tree at all. I use staggered post height locking tuners from Sperzel and this gives me the perfect break angle on the strings at the nut and it eliminates the need for a string tree.
